Open My Eyes!

When we are born into the world we may have physical sight, but, we are all born spiritually blind, though we all feel that there is more to life! Until we are what Jesus called “born again” we cannot see the Kingdom of God neither can we enter it.

The question is…How then can we be born again…how can we enter in?

The answer for us is that it is impossible! But for God all things are possible!

We are born again when by the unconditional Love and Grace of God, we realise that in Jesus, The Universal Christ, we are loved unconditionally and completely! We are born again not by anything we do or can do…but simply by the love and  grace of God!. In the most simple terms this means, we come to realise that we are so far from God that only God himself can redeem us and bring us near..only God can give us this second birth.

All attempts by human means ends in absolutely nothing accomplished.

God is the one who accomplishes it. Because He is love and He loves us!

Jesus is ‘Emanuel’ – God with us. Through Jesus, we now enter into the very throne-room of God.

Jesus, The Universal Christ is the only way to the Father because He and the father are One! Jesus the Son of Man, becomes the second and last Adam who perfectly fulfils the requirements of the law. It is through Jesus that we are born again and through him we all enter into a new, living and intimate relationship of love with God. We are through Jesus, reborn by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is something only God can do and until we allow His love to transform us we will remain self centred and hiding from the source of our very life. Once we glimpse something of the beauty that saves the world, we are literally born again! We are Baptised, (which in Greek means being immersed or saturated or drowned) into The Universal Christ; we find the breath of God that is in us (the Holy Spirit) and we realise that we are indeed a new creation and child of God.

Now all this may sound very complex. But it isn’t!

God has made a way that is both simple and yet profound. It relies upon Him alone and cannot be added to nor altered in any way by ourselves.

His way is Perfect. The Way is not by a self centred occupation, but through a Christ Centred reality. The truth is not found in the world of academia or in our cleverness, it is not found in the bible, literature or philosophy, but in the person of Christ. The Life which really matters is lived not by power or by might but by the Spirit, whom Jesus gives to all who believe. It is the life of love!

So what makes a Christian a Christian?

The Scriptures tell us to Believe and be Baptised.

So, believe that you are loved and live loved!

Christians understand that being Baptised in water is a sacrament, (a sign…of faith) in Christ. Water baptism shows in a sign how we are immersed into God and so it is a sign of both death and life. It is a sign of our sharing in the death of Jesus, so we all die and as Jesus, The Universal Christ is risen, so we too are all born again into the new life of His resurrection. We are instructed to be belive and be baptised, as a sign!

Lets put it in simple terms:

Put your faith in Jesus, The Universal Christ. It will take a little time to get to know Him,,,but it will be worth it!

(The word ‘Christ’ comes from the Greek word Christos and means Anointed. The Hebrew word is ‘Messiah’. The name ‘Jesus’ comes from the Hebrew Yeshua and has a root meaning ‘Salvation’. He is the Saviour or the one who saves! He saves us because He loves us). We cannot save ourselves…though we would like to think we can!

Some church fellowships baptise baby’s. Of course the baby has no capacity for belief as too young. An infant can’t feed itself, but the parents can feed them.  So too when a child is born into the Christian family, the parent can choose for their child that they too might be spiritually nourished until that day when they are of an age, when of their own volition they may choose and eat of the bread of life.

Jesus said, “suffer the little children to come unto me”.

So you too. as a child of your heavenly Father, don’t be put off from going to Him. If you were Christened/Baptised as an infant, thank God!  All you need do now is believe and leave the rest to God.

You may want to confirm your faith either by a rite of Confirmation as the Roman Catholic and Anglican churches do, or you may want to be baptised by full immersion as an adult? You do have a choice, so choose as the Holy Spirit leads you. You may also come from a different faith background or none at all….All are welcome in the Kingdom of Jesus, The Universal Christ!

Baptism is an outward sign commended to us by Jesus. The first letter of Peter, chapter three, speaks of water baptism, “In the Ark, a few persons, eight in all, were brought safely through the water. Water here stands for baptism, Baptism is not the removal of dirt from the body, but a promise made to God with a clear conscience. It saves you now through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” In Jesus, The Universal Christ, all are saved not just eight…and so we commend you to Him who is able to keep you from faling and present you spotless before the presence of His glory!

So, trust in Jesus!

You certainly need to share time with believers. You cannot remain apart from other Christians…though some will drive you mad…as in any family! It is essential that you meet with others who believe, so you and they will be built up and encouraged. Jesus said, “Love one another as I have loved you”. It doesn’t mean you have to find a church or belong to a Sunday club…what it means is that you need to find others who will help you grow in love and you will help them grow. It might be in a local denomination…but be careful that you are not indoctrinated…or made to see the love of God from one side! God’s love is much greater than anything we can contain!

Jesus said, where two or three are gathered together, he would be there with them in a special way. You don’t need crowds!

Take time out to meditate and pray. You don’t need lots of words or special phrases. Be real before God. Open up your heart to Him and take time out to listen to His voice. He does speak! When you get attuned to His voice you will know and love His presence and in His presence you will find love, peace and strength for your daily walk. Learn how to soak in His presence. Just find a quiet place and either listen to some music or rest in silence, allowing God to speak to you.

Is there a perfect ‘church communion, denomination or fellowship’?

Look around…but don’t get caught! Don’t ever think that the grass is greener over there… Although there are numerous fellowships and church communions, remember that there is only One Church! All who are in Christ belong to Him and therefore we are Church, Sisters and Brothers in Christ. We don’t all do the same things. We don’t all sing the same songs or meet in the same way with the same words. What we do have is the same Lord and the same Spirit has been given to us, as new creations in Christ Jesus. So remember, “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all”.

Don’t look for kicks! Look for God! Don’t just go to a church building or fellowship because it entertains you or because you think the others are boring. Try to listen to the Spirit and follow His lead. Sadly you will find some churches/fellowships who have all the outer form of religion but have little life in the Spirit. Others may have an exuberance but little of the holiness of God. We are not perfect. Remember that the speck we see in our brothers eye is often only a reflection of the plank in our own. In Church people will be at different points on the road they share with you. Remember God loves you all wherever you are, so you don’t need to strive or compare yourself against another!

Leave your past to God’s mercy; the future to His providence; Now, today, rejoice and be thankful, for this is the day that the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad in it!

Live loved!

A Prayer.

All vulnerable God, I come to you in and through Jesus, The Universal Christ, desiring to walk always in the light of your presence. I want to be a true follower. Search my heart and help me to open up all those closed and dark areas of my life, which I have hidden from you! May they be opened to the cleansing of your Living Word, Jesus. Wash me clean in and through the living water of your Word and Spirit; May your Holy Spirit fill me, teach me and guide me, so that I may enter into your presence with joy, and overflowing with praise from a thankful heart. All vulnerable God may I receive your love and live in it always, as best I can.

I make this request to you through Jesus, who lives and reigns forever, with you and the Holy Spirit; One God, eternal and true. Amen.
